Services are made available to
members and the governing body of
each member makes the decision to participate in any service.
Member cities and counties pay only for the services they select to use.

►Curbside Recycling
The curbside recycling program serves approximately 45,000 households in James City County, Poquoson, Williamsburg and York County. Residents are provided with 18-gallon containers to place curbside for
weekly collection services.

►Compost Facility
VPPSA receives brush, leaves and grass from residents of Hampton,
Poquoson and York County and businesses in the area at the Compost
Facility located in York County. The material is processed and
compost and mulch products are made available for sale.

►Household Chemical Collection
VPPSA holds a total of 16 household chemical collection events per year
and accepts a variety of paints, fuels, solvents, pesticides, automotive
products and other chemicals from residents of Hampton, Poquoson,
Williamsburg, James City County and York County.

►Computer
and Electronics Recycling
VPPSA will hold a total of nine computer and electronics recycling events
in 2008 and accepts a variety of old computers and accessories from residents of Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City County and York County.

►Middle Peninsula
Solid Waste System
Residents and businesses in
the Counties of Essex, King and Queen, King William, Mathews and
Middlesex receive a full range of solid waste services. The
system includes four transfer stations and 15 convenience centers
located throughout the five county region.

►Drop
Off Recycling
Residents and small businesses can deliver recyclable materials
to any of 21 drop off sites located in the counties of Essex, James
City, King & Queen, King William, Mathews, Middlesex and York.
Residents of the City of Williamsburg can use the Tewning Road
Convenience Center in James City County.

►Special Wastes
VPPSA provides services for recycling a variety of special
wastes including scrap metal, used tires, oil and antifreeze,
automobile batteries, rechargeable batteries, and cell phones.
All VPPSA members use a least some of these services.

►Middlesex Commercial Waste Collection
Commercial waste collection services are available to all business
establishments in Middlesex County. Middlesex County pays the
disposal fee for all waste collected in the program and VPPSA
passes along the savings to the customers.
